We love Blushing Blooms Floral Design and know you will, too!
Blushing Blooms has officially been open for ONE YEAR! WOOHOO! And, to celebrate, they are going to be one of our Participating Vendors at our upcoming Couples Social at Circle Bistro on October 18th!
What made you decide to open your own company?
I didn’t! I think I just stumbled into it. I worked in a local flower shop for a few years prior to my 8 year corporate gig, where I found my passion and learned all the basics. Then, I had three kids (two at one time, that was crazy!), and got married. I took on the wonderful task of doing my own wedding flowers. Which, in hindsight, was nuts! Well, I got through it, and then, my now sister-in-law, asked if I would do her flowers. Of course, I agreed! It’s just SO much easier when you aren’t the bride! 🙂 Well, it just snowballed from there. Friends and family started inquiring, so I went legit and opened up shop. It’s been a whirlwind ever since and more amazing than I could have ever imagined.
How did you come up with the Blushing Blooms Floral Design?
Well this was tough and I still come up with different business names and jot them down in my notebook (maybe re-branding someday?!), but I settled on Blushing Blooms because I felt it encompassed what I love to do, wedding flowers. I do other events, but weddings are my favorite. So, that where the Blushing (i.e. blushing bride) came in, and, well, the Blooms is pretty self-explanatory. It just seemed to fit. Plus, I get to embrace the color pink which is wonderful in house full of boys!
What’s your favorite part of doing floral design?
So, I was beyond excited to do a fun and colorful wedding this past August with one of the sweetest brides. She chose bright summer colors and a loose and fun bouquet. She and I connected. Maybe it was the wine we shared during our meeting, or maybe it was our love for all things colorful, who knows. But, when I delivered her bouquet on August 29th, she proclaimed, “I’ve been waiting for you. The flowers are the best part!”
I started to loose it. There was so much emotion in the air and to hear that I was such a pivotal part of her big day was breathtaking. We both got a little teary-eyed, then she clutched her bouquet and snapped a quick picture. That’s what it’s all about for me. Being able to deliver someone’s dream is beyond fulfilling.
Is there anything information about Blushing Blooms Floral Design that you’d like us to know??
While I’m the primary designer I have two go-to assistants who help when needed. The first is my youngest sister, Michelle. She helps with everything from boutonnieres to babysitting! The second is Carey Taylor, a local planner, who is learning a little about flowers while sharing her event and styling expertise. She and I are kindred spirits.
What is your favorite part of what you do?
Shopping! Going to the flower wholesaler is my therapy. I bundle up and spend hours going in and out of the coolers perusing the inventory for the week. I have to set a time limit or I end up spending all day in there. It’s so inspiring (and cold).
What is your favorite type of event?
It changes like the seasons. Just like I look forward to spring when its winter, I always look forward to the next event. They are all unique so it’s hard to choose just once type.
Is there anything else you’d like us to know?
I recently adding event styling to my list of services! (Yay!) I will also be partnering with Magnolia Blossom Events into the coming months to offer a floral and day-of-planner package for brides. We are still working on the details but are pumped to be teaming up.
Tell us a little bit about yourself!
I’m a recent bride, so I know all about the craziness of planning a wedding. I tell it like it is and always give my honest opinion when asked. I’ll do whatever I can to help make your decision making process as simple as possible. I genuinely care about my brides and have a vested interest in their wedding. In a way it becomes my wedding, too.
