Meet Ruby the Fox!

Megan Lipke Kenney opened Ruby the Fox just about five years ago. While living in Denver as Mike, her adorable husband, completed his masters program, they befriended a real-life fox in a neighborhood park. They named her Ruby and, well, the rest is history!

We were lucky to find Ruby the Fox and book them for our upcoming Couples Social at Circle Bistro! We can’t wait to see all of the beautiful paper products that Ruby the Fox designs especially for this District Bliss event! If you’re not familiar with the District Bliss Couples Social, it is designed as an alternative to the traditional bridal expos or wedding shows. Our Couples Social is a fun, pressure-free happy hour where engaged couples/friends/families of engaged couples can hang out and meet other couples while checking out vendors’ products, like Ruby the Fox. It’s a great time!

When did you decide to open your own business?

I started Ruby after a post-college stint at an invitation shop in Bethesda, Maryland. After falling in love with all things paper and going back to school for graphic design, my friends all started getting engaged and asked me to design their invites for them! Fate? I think so… From there things began to grow organically and it went from designing for friends and family to creating a name for myself in the paper world. As the daughter of two entrepreneurs, I always knew I wanted to start my own company, and I couldn’t be more excited to do what I love every single day!

What is your favorite part of owning your own graphic design company?

Getting to know my couples and watching the vision they have for their paper suites come to life is my absolutely favorite part of my job. Hearing couples say they truly enjoyed the paper part of their wedding planning process is the greatest compliment! Also, I can’t complain about getting to swoon over letterpress, gold foil and pretty paper day in and day out…

Is there anything you’d like us to know about your business?

We work with a huge array of budgets, combinations of print methods and design styles. We love thinking up new and creative design concepts, but also can’t resist a classic suite. No job is too big or too small…as long as it involves pretty paper, we’re in.

Do you have a favorite story related to your business?

I had a wonderful couple I worked with for their entire wedding suite — from save the dates to thank you notes. They were an absolute joy, so kind, creative and sweet. A few months after all was said and done with their wedding goodies I got an email that they were expecting! I then go the chance to design baby Mackenzie’s birth announcements and first birthday invitations. SO much fun!

What is your favorite type of wedding or event?

I love any and all celebrations — especially if they involve pretty paper! I have a soft spot for designs that are a bit out of the box, but there is something so special about a timeless black + white elegant affair.

Is there anything else you’d like our readers to know about you?

I love all things design, yoga, sushi and dogs. I’m originally from Chicago (hence my 847 area code) and have since lived in New York City, Prague, Baltimore and Denver! I have a 9 month old baby girl, Charlotte, who is the light of my life and a wonderful husband, Mike, who I met in college! I live and breathe wedding and events and would LOVE to be a little part of your big day.
