Meet Clarity and Class!
After working for nearly half a decade with other planners in the industry, Sonia decided to open the doors to her own business just over one year ago. Her experience working with other planners is evident in her ability to move between styles as dictated by her clients or even the venue space. You’d like modern sparkle? Done. You’re a fan of sweets? She’ll build a theme based on that. You’re hoping the large space you booked for your wedding can still feel intimate? She’s got you!
How did you decide to open your own company?
For over 3 years, I’ve been volunteering with putting together various networking, cultural events and personal parties; I did it out of pure passion. In 2014, the lightbulb turned on for me after I was continually being asked to put together these special events – from bridal showers, birthday parties, retirement ceremonies, to happy hours and beyond. I realized that one of my greatest passions is putting together occasions were people commune to create memories. I decided to create a business that was reflective of my personality. I love connecting with others and creating memories.
How did you come up with the name Clarity and Class?
Ah! At first I wanted to name the business Flawless Affairs, but I quickly realized that name was pretty generic and commonly used, which is not really my style and does not reflect my personality.
Clarity and Class was born out of a discussion with an industry friend. It was initially the slogan I had thought up because I wanted to bring Clarity to my clients through the planning process. Class, because nothing beats sophistication and elegance.
What’s your favorite part of what you do?
I love executing the vision of my clients! I love helping them hone down the visions they have for their special day.
My other favorite part is the hugs I get at the end of a wedding from the couples, their family and their guests and even the vendors, too! At the end, everyone is a part of a special moment in time! Yup, I love all of that!!! (Professional hugger)
Is there anything you’d like our readers to know about you or your business?
I love the unique and different! With all the input couples receive for their wedding from friends and family and magazines and social media. I want each and every couple to be true to themselves. I want them to know that they can have their wedding be whatever they want. I listen to them as they tell me their desires and I help execute that vision.
Is there anything you’d like our readers to know about you personally?
I am a veteran + mom. I love historic venues, natural surroundings and I am inspired by the simplest things. Favorite person ever is Benjamin Franklin!
Do you have a favorite or most memorable moment?
A memorable moment of the wedding was when the bride handed me their small son who was exhausted from all the excitement! She and her mother asked me to put him down for a nap toward the end of the night! I love kids, and as a mom, I know how protective we can be of our children. To know that they both trusted me to make sure their son was safe and resting was the highlight of my night. I make sure even the smallest ones are having a great time.
Do you have a favorite type of wedding or event?
I really love every wedding, and not to be generic, but its like watching a love story being told in a single night. Its beautiful to see two people come together to publicly declare their love and commitment. I get to help them share their passions in every detail of the wedding and that is what I enjoy the most.
