Sweet, Adorable, and OH MY GOSH so talented!
We sat down with Hannah Giddings, the owner and lead photographer of HannahLane Photography, to learn a little bit more about her and her business – and take a peek at her portfolio. All we can say about that is WOW!
After seven years working as a wedding photographer, Hannah decided to pack up and move her business to the Washington DC – Baltimore – Charleston area. While she still travels and photographs all over the world, we think you will all agree that we’re lucky to have HannahLane Photography right around the corner!
What made you decide to start your own company?
I am always loved photography. When I was seven years old I received my first camera from a good family friend. The camera had been dropped so there was a rubber band holding the battery cover on, but I didn’t care. I started taking pictures of everything! That was the start of my love affair with photography.
I went to school for photography and graphic design, interned at Charleston Magazine as a photographer, and started working after that. I photographed my first wedding in 2009 and it just stuck from there.
How did you come up with the name HannahLane Photography?
Do you ever work with a team, or do you photograph solo?
Generally, I work alone. Though I got married last August and my husband, Daniel, has very recently started shooting with me. He photographed his first wedding with me last month and we plan on him shooting with me on occasion in the future.
What’s your favorite part of what you do?
I love the interaction with all the people I get to work with. I’m an extrovert, so I love meeting new clients, their families, and watching one of their most important days of their lives unfold before me. It’s one of the most special moments and I get to capture that with my camera.
Where do you consider your “home base” as a photographer now that you’ve moved to the DC area?
I am based out of Annapolis, Maryland and Charleston, South Carolina but I absolutely LOVE traveling for weddings. No place is too far. I’ve photographed weddings all over the east coast, some on the west coast, and midwest.

Do you have a favorite type of wedding?
I LOVE outdoor weddings. The light and beautiful weather is my absolute favorite! I’m a natural light photographer, so any chance I get to play with the sun’s light is my favorite.
