Natalie Crane, the talented photographer behind likemorningsun photography, provides photographic & video services for weddings, engagements, families, and more! Natalie is all about creating a real connection with her clients. She love engagement sessions for this reason–it’s a stress free environment where she and her clients can just hang out and get to know each other, so that on their wedding day she’s almost like a part of the family. She loves those little details or moments that sometimes get overlooked but are full of beauty & emotion. I went to school for photography in Los Angeles, and did photography as a part time job during that time. I never planned on getting into the wedding world, but a couple friends asked me to shoot their wedding throughout college, and by the time I graduated, I had built up enough business to go full time! Last year was my first official year in business, but I’ve been a photographer for six or seven years now.
I’ve had the name “likemorningsun photography” ever since I first starting doing photography in high school! It was something I came up with late one night and it kind of just stuck ever since then. The time just after the sun breaks over the horizon is one of the most beautiful and promising parts of the day, and I loved the symbolism of a sunrise. As a photographer I think everything looks the most beautiful when the sun is still low in the sky and creates that magical warm glow over everything.
I love walking through the whole process of wedding planning with clients. Engagement sessions are some of my favorites, just to get to know a couple and hang out for a bit in a stress-free environment before the craziness of a wedding day. Of course, being there for the couple throughout the day is always fun. Being able to hear their reactions when they receive their prints is one of my absolute favorite parts of what I do though!
My favorite weddings are the simple, honest celebrations of a couple’s love. Of course, as a photographer, we can sometimes get caught up in the details and location, etc, but at the end of the day, finding the beautiful moments in a couples day is my favorite thing. Any backyard, small & intimate wedding that is put together with love is my favorite! It’s always incredible to be welcomed into a family for a day and share in their joy.
If I’m not photographing I’m probably on a road trip or on a hike somewhere. I have tons of travel plans for 2017 and lots of new places to explore this year.
