Alyson Sohigian started Jetaway Guru as a way to pursue her passion for traveling while helping friends and family plan their own vacations. Living in New York City for the past 10 years has inspired quite an interest in other cultures, people, and food. Alyson has found traveling to be one of the most life-affirming things she can do for herself, and heads to new places every chance she gets, having visited over 40 countries to date! This extensive travel experience, along with her passion for food and background in design, has led her to developing custom travel itineraries as a full time career.

How did you come up with the name of your business?
I was in my yoga teacher training class and was inspired by the history and stories and my love for travel. I had recently went to India as well, so it was on my mind. I actually designed my logo first, then came up with the name. First I thought Getaway Guru, but it was trademarked, then thought Jetaway Guru which I actually ended up being a better get, as I focus on honeymoons and luxury travel. Jetaway sounds a little more highend.

Jetaway Guru believes traveling is one of the most life-affirming things you can do for yourself. The exposure to new cultures, stimulating sights, exquisite cuisine and life experiences are memories you will cherish forever. But to get the most out of your vacation, you should hire a professional to plan it that has only you in mind every moment.
That’s where I come in. I personally plan and book 100% of your customized vacation –with your own personal interactive itineraries, embedded with your reservations, interesting travel articles and websites that pertain to your trip. Each is designed and planned around your personal interests and needs, leaving you time to enjoy your trip and relax.
What’s more — I have networks and partnerships all over the world I can contact to help plan a truly unique experience.
Wouldn’t you rather stay in a cute boutique hotel in Paris and go on a food tour curated by a big name magazine designed especially around your palate, then booking a generic run of the mill cookie cutter tour? Well, that’s what I do, booking everything from hotels, transport, meal reservations and excursions with you in mind.

Is there anything you’d like our readers to know about you personally?
I mindfully design each itinerary to cater specifically to every individual client! I’ve created the Jetaway Guru questionnaire, to ensure that every moment of your vacation, whether it is a 1 day getaway or a 3 week excursion, is perfectly planned for your needs and interests! I will personally make sure that every booking and reservation is taken care of so that your vacation is as relaxing as humanly, or divinely, possible.
What is your favorite part about what you do?
Getting to travel to awesome destinations and properties, and learning about new places all over the world all the time.
Do you have a favorite/memorable story related to your business?
Getting my first client. I was in yoga teacher training, decided to quit my job and move to Africa for 4 months and start my own business. I hired a career coach to help me stay accountable and stick with a timeline. I had just built my website and had asked friends to write posts on social media. After about 2 weeks, I had my first inquiry and it was a honeymoon to India, which was a challenge to plan but the location that had inspired my logo!
Do you have a favorite type of event/wedding/etc? If so, elaborate.
A client that will take my advise and suggestions. Sometimes this requires splurging – but always worth it!
