Meet Kathy Lynn Photography!

Kathy Lynn is a photographer in Montgomery County, Maryland. Her delicate flower images have been featured in several gallery shows, exhibits, and won awards – which is no surprise to us because her images look like they may have been the inspiration for Georgia O’Keeffe’s famous paintings!

We had a chance to interview Kathy Lynn and learn about how she began creating these stunning images

I work at a family owned flower farm in the agricultural reserve in Laytonsville, Maryland. I am surrounded by so much beauty not only in the flowers, but also in the ever-changing colors and lighting in the gardens. I brought my camera to work with me one day and fell in love with taking photos of flowers! Some of my best shots are taken with my point and shoot camera!

My classroom is the flower farm. I have the opportunity to spend hours in the fields with the flowers. My photography is mostly of flowers from farms in Maryland and also vegetables from farmers markets in Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC. I try to shoot only pictures of flowers that are locally grown. I photograph flowers, foliage, grasses, fruits, berries, vegetables and insects to create my signature close-up photographs.

My photography is on exhibit at the Sandy Spring Museum in Sandy Spring, Maryland, and has been on display at the Club House at Gibson Island and St. Michael’s. Kathy Lynn Photography was selected for the Visitor’s Choice award, 2013 Peony Contest, from the Gaithersburg Museum located in Gaithersburg, Maryland.
