In the mean time, keep reading to learn more 501 Union. And, we’ll see you there on February 21st! 😉
When did you decide you wanted to open your own company?
Gowanus Hospitality Group opened our doors to our sister venue The Green Building in Fall 2010. After 3 years and 200+ weddings + events at the Green Building, we were hooked on hospitality. The auto garage across the street from the Green Building became available for purchase, so we scooped it up, and after a year of intense renovations, we hosted our first wedding (for a Martha Stewart Weddings editor, no less – jackpot!) in September 2013.
How did you come up with the name of your business?
It’s very literally our street address 🙂
How long have you been in business?
2.5 years at 501 Union, but we started hosting weddings + events at The Green Building in Fall 2010.
Is there anything else you’d like our readers to know about your business?
We will also be hosting a two-week pop-up work collective called #theLoveUnion for wedding vendors this February at 501 Union. Get off your couch, out of your jammies, and come work with us! Connect with your fellow vendors and recharge together before we head into busy wedding season. We’re committed to our community and to the art of collaboration, and we want to give you the space to make some magic happen. We’ll have co-working hours, morning yoga and afternoon cookies, and nighttime networking events. More details will be available on our website in the coming weeks!
Any info on your team you’d like to share?
Jennifer Fitzmaurice is 501 Union’s Sales and Marketing Manager; Claire Mahler is our Private Events Coordinator. They are all fabulous!
Is there anything you’d like our readers to know about you all personally?
We’re a tight knit-crew and we love what we do. We love the community and we love to celebrate!
What is your favorite part about what you do?
We’re obsessed with our couples, and we love meeting other small business owners and making industry pals, plus we’re committed to supporting our local community. We work hard to promote local businesses through referrals and partnerships in addition to curating a recommended vendor list highlighting our some of our favorites.
