2017 will be a year of expansions for District Bliss! We are soooo stoked to be bringing fun networking + happy hours even further across the DMV and hosting our FIRST VA VENDOR SOCIAL! We’ll be having the event at Blackwall Hitch Alexandria. This urban chic restaurant with a splash of historic charm is the perfect spot for any seafood lover! Not only is it a restaurant, but it also has spaces for Private Dining- Rehearsal Dinners, Weddings, Corporate Events, Showers, Birthday Parties and more! They even have live music 4 days a week! How did you come up with the name of your company?

In 1862, the shipping industry was strong in London’s Blackwall Port, and ships were in and out in quick order. Many families left their farms and machine posts to engage in an adventure that would not only change their world, but the world we enjoy today. The ships set sail and docked at the sandy coasts of Maryland and Virginia and other parts of the Eastern Seaboard. The strong hooks attached to the docks were the only connection the boats would have, and a nimble shipmate would need to dock the boat and make it secure in a flash. The unique blackwall hitch knot allows for a fast connection as the line draws itself tighter and tighter as the vessel rises and falls with the tide.

Do you have a favorite type of event?

Theme parties are always fun! Our chef is very creative with food, and we have done a lot of interesting theme parties- we had luaus, country “boots & bling” parties, the list keeps on coming and with that comes fun foods- taco bars, Mediterranean, cute small bites, burger bars, etc.

Do you have a team or do you work solo?

Elizabeth, our Events Coordinator, plans the events solo with the help of the chef when it comes to food. The day of the event, she has a large staff that carries the events out and ultimately makes them successful!
