These are three of the many words we could use to describe Alicia Wiley’s photography
Her personality shines through in every image that Alicia takes – because her passion is palpable
I’ve always had a camera, any kind of camera, I remember the days of dropping off film to be developed like it was yesterday but it wasn’t until 2012 I decided to get a DSLR. I was studying Environmental Science in school and needed to fill electives, I thought photography was the perfect choice because I had already dabbled in videography classes, and this way I could put my new camera to use! Our projects were mostly stills of objects or landscapes but one project was to photograph humans. I put my feelers out there on Facebook for a family to pose for me and I actually received a lot of responses!
I decided photography would be my side hustle because I had an amazing job as a Project Manager at an Environmental Construction company. Eventually Portraits led me to my first small studio space in Baltimore and that led me to Weddings.
In such a short time photography went from a hobby to a business, after 3 years of it being a side hustle I fast-tracked into running my business full-time and it was the best decision I have ever made!
Your Wedding day is that rare occasion where all your friends and family meet & gather together and your ceremony is the reason for it all. This is the only time in your life all of these people will be in the same room and I truly value capturing that.
I may have started out as a Portrait Photographer, and I do still take on a limited amount of sessions each year, but Weddings are my happy place. I love everything about photographing a wedding day but my favorite parts are styling details, toasts/speeches and formal portraits.
I love connecting with people. There should be a sign on me that says “will talk to strangers about anything”. Whether it’s a grand celebration or glimpse of a love-filled moment, I value capturing a piece of someones journey, every story is worth being photographed and shared.
I wake up every morning excited to get to work. I LOVE what I do and I am so grateful for my clients, support system and network of other amazing small business owners.
“A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms.”
This hangs on my wall as a constant reminder that it is okay to just be me. I’m a free spirit with a type A personality and if Tracee Ellis Ross & Adele could reproduce I would be their love child.
I don’t include the word vibrant in my business just because my images are vibrant, it’s because that’s who I am!
