If you’re not gathering testimonials, consider this your sign you need to change that.
So, what are the easiest ways to gather quality testimonials?
🔹 Give your clients a template. We have a fill-in-the-blank template that we send when requesting testimonials. Clients are welcome to write their testimonials outside of that structure, but it’s a great jumping-off point for those of us who need a little guidance.
🔹 Incentivize them. We offer link-backs (oh, hey there, SEO) for testimonials. You can also offer a coffee, a ticket to an upcoming event, or some sort of gift. As always, do what’s right for you and your business.
🔹 Be clear in your ask. If you want a testimonial about a specific topic, workshop, or area of expertise, ask for that. It’s helpful to the person writing the testimonial to narrow it down.
Bonus tip! ⚡ Be timely in your ask for the testimonial. If you’d like a testimonial about a program, ask when it’s just been completed by your client. That way, it’s fresh in their mind.
72% of customers say positive reviews and testimonials impact how much they trust a brand, according to Big Commerce. Brighton SEO found that another 72% say they only make a purchase after seeing a positive review.
Now, go ask for testimonials. You’ve got this!
PS: One of the many resources we provide to our DB Members is a testimonial capture sheet. It keeps everything in one place, makes it super easy to pull testimonials when you’re ready to use them, and holds all the vital information to properly credit your clients.
