This Wedding Planner will take care of all the Hoopla – All you’ll have to think about is the FUN!
What can we say about Hoopla! Events? Well, we love Adina Franconi, the very talented founder and brains behind Hoopla! Events. This gal can make us laugh until we cry, even on the worst day of the week. No joke – the last time we saw laughed so hard that we cried all of our mascara away! No joke! And, we CANNOT WAIT until we see her for our Couples Social on February 21st at 501 Union in Brooklyn!
When did you decide you wanted to start Hoopla! Events?
I worked as a paralegal for over 10 years, which after awhile, no longer felt challenging, pushing paper work everyday. After planning my own wedding and really enjoying the process, I started working in the event industry and loved seeing results from my hard labor and knowing that everyday was always different in some way, and even better, that I was helping people in some way.
It was really after having my son, Jacob, in 2012 that everything sorta changed. I was a stay-at-home mom for some time, but I quickly got stir-crazy. I then got back into the event planning industry and went from quite and calm to working extremely crazy hours.
I started thinking to myself, there has to be some sort of middle ground to doing what I love, being a momma and an event planner – hence, I opened my own company.
Now, I get to spread my love for events and OCD for details and organization, but on my own terms. It was scary at first, of course, but I am so grateful that I am accountable to myself and my clients and even better the flexibility with my schedule to allow me to have time with my son for our fun adventures.
How did you come up with the name of your business?
Silly, but when I was a teenager I remember loving the word “Hoopla”. I thought it was the coolest word, so when thinking of a name for my business I wanted something that was catchy, that stood out from the rest.
Is there anything else you’d like our readers to know about your business?
I strongly believe that no couple is the same, therefore no one event should ever be the same. I always encourage couples to let their personalities shine throughout their event. Be true to yourself.
Is there anything you’d like our readers to know about you personally?
I’ve been told I’m a rarity in women lol. I guess because I’ve always been so multifaceted. One minute you will find me working on a highly organized spreadsheet or running around at an event; the next minute you might find me sneaking in a video game before bed or having a dance party, with myself, in the kitchen while cooking dinner. I love to laugh and I try not to take myself to seriously. Life is way to short to not enjoy it.
What is your favorite part about what you do?
Hands down, seeing the satisfaction of my clients. It makes me super happy knowing that I was able to make their vision, goals or even dreams a reality. It’s truly an amazing feeling.
Do you have a favorite aspect of events and weddings?
I totally dig family style reception dinners. I love seeing people sharing convo over good food and drinks. There is something so intimate about the whole thing!
