Valentine’s Day is the holiday of hearts, flowers, chocolates, and the whole shebang. Although today is geared towards couples, this Valentine’s Day the DB team is focusing on self-love and care because we all deserve to treat ourselves! Here are our top tips on how to add a little more self-love in your life!

It’s okay to enjoy being by yourself sometimes. It’s okay to pause from the world read that book, take that nap, or lounge on the couch all day. It’s also okay to wear comfy clothes, go make-up less, and embrace your messy hair. That’s what I’m trying to tell myself all this year…

As a mom I rarely get a chance to practice self care! But when I do, I try to squeeze in a lunch time yoga class, any chance to shut my eyes and not have anyone ask anything of me is always helpful. Any time that I can spend with girlfriends is always good for my soul! Be in a few minutes on the phone, a quick coffee or the rare night away, a girl always needs her girlfriends and being with them will always reset your spirit!

Sometimes it’s ok to let yourself off the hook. There’s only so much one person can do, handle, and manage. Treat your “self” as you would treat a friend – be kind, forgiving, and understanding. Remember that you cant get everything done in one day – and that’s ok because you did your best!

Whether you’re sitting in your car in traffic, sitting at home cleaning or cooking, commuting to work/school, take at least 5 minutes out of your day to be grateful for what you already have. Often times we get so caught up complaining, wishing, or stressing that we don’t have enough things we think make us happier. Look at the life you already live! That in itself helps you love yourself more!

Every now and then, we all deserve a pamper day! That can include getting a mani/pedi or your hair done or just treating yourself to your favorite meal! After a long week of school, I love to pick up sushi and it automatically boosts my mood. Life can get super crazy so it’s important to take the time, even if it’s not that much time, to fit in something that you love.
